Begin
a new layout. Also adds to or changes layouts you've already created.

Enter information about weight, trim, cable pickups, how much tolerance
you're willing to work with or you can mark a pipe to have no tolerance
at all if that's what you need. You can also create a new version
of the same show...just click the duplicate button.

And
after you've entered all the information above, the program figures
it all out for you.

You
can separate the information for your spotting points to make your
work easier: eg. cable pickups, hemp points, motor points.

And
when you're all done, generate your reports and print them. Six
types of reports can be created: hanging sheet, spotting information,
cable pickups, hemp points, motor points and city information.

EasyLayout
for the Road II (for
road and house carpenters)
Attention all carpenters! Now you can prep your show by computer
and save yourself hours of work that otherwise had to be done by
hand. No more hassle figuring out step by laborious step which pipes
you're going to hang on. No more fiddling with blue prints. EasyLayout
for the Road II has arrived! It's
an easy to use, quick to learn computer program that takes your
show layout information and applies it to the specifics of every
theatre you're going to play and lays out your show in the new theatre
automatically. Your life, my friend, just got easier. And not only
is it great for road show carpenters, but house and educational
carpenters can use it to plan their many shows in one house too--use
it anyway you like...one show, many venues or many shows, one venue.
In
February of 1999, Joe Ippolito (member, IATSE Local 631 and Carpenter
on the Rent [Benny] Tour), wondered if a computer
program could be written to perform all the calculations necessary
to create a hang plot and then store all the information about his
show layout for each city. He asked Jack Culver (member, IATSE Locals
1 and 33 who had recently graduated from the American Institute
for Computer Science) to attack this problem. And attack it he did.
When he came back to Joe with the revolutionary new computer program
for the road carpenter, he opened up a new world for carpenters...a
simplified method to move a show from theatre to theatre. The result
was EasyLayout for the Road.
EasyLayout
for the Road saves the carpenter hours on his paperwork. Here's
how it works: you enter the show’s line set information (desired
position from 0’0”, trim, weight, description, etc.) ONCE, and the
program does the work for you for the whole tour. This is important:
you enter your information ONLY ONCE for a whole tour. And not
only can you save one layout, but Easylayout for the Road
lets you to create multiple versions of the same show with different
hang specifications such as an expanded version, a cut down version,
an arena version, etc. You will lay out an entire show in less than
half the time it would take if you did it by hand.
Over
the years, Jack has tuned and tweaked his program to match the needs
of a number of carpenters adding all the desired functions, bells
and whistles that they wanted to see in a program like this. Today
that enhanced program is EasyLayout for the Road II.
Let's take a look at just how easy it is to run EasyLayout for
the Road II:
The screenshots left are not all inclusive and are shown only
to give you an idea of just some of the many capabilities this program
features and how easy it is to operate. It's a general overview
of all that EasyLayout for the Road II can do for you.
Would you like to see what other carpenters say about EasyLayout
for the Road II? Here's a letter
from Joe Ippolito (the carpenter who's simple question started it
all) and another from Fred Phelan
(foreman at Atlas Scenic Studio).
